Police are investigating a serious collision in East Vancouver that sent a 63-year-old pedestrian to hospital with serious “life-altering” injuries.
The victim, a woman whose name has not been disclosed, was struck by a white Cadillac while walking near Rupert Street and East 14th Avenue, around 2 p.m. on Dec. 22.
She was taken to hospital with a serious head injury. Three weeks later, she remains in hospital, police said in a news release Wednesday.
“The incident has had tragic and life-altering consequences,” said VPD Sgt. Steve Addison, while appealing for anyone who saw the incident to come forward.
“This collision probably didn’t look very serious when it happened, so we believe there are witnesses who didn’t stick around to talk to police.”

The driver of the Cadillac remained and spoke with police. Neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision.
“Investigators believe the driver’s vision may have been affected by the late-afternoon sun,” Addison said.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has pertinent dash-cam footage is asked to call investigators.
