A 30-year-old Vancouver man faces a murder charge in connection with a fatal stabbing last Saturday in Vancouver.
According to Vancouver police, a 34-year-old man was stabbed around 9 p.m. in the area of East 57th and Prince Edward Street.
The victim, Damien Franklin Leung, later died in hospital.
Police arrested John Huang, 30, a short time after the stabbing and about a block away from the crime scene.
He has since been charged with second degree murder.
“Investigators identified a suspect very early in the investigation,” said VPD spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin. “Although charges have been approved, homicide detectives are continuing to gather more evidence to present the best package to Crown counsel.”
Vancouver police have said Huang and Leung were known to each other.
Huang remains in custody pending his next court appearance on Dec. 22.
