A Metro Vancouver Transit Police officer was sent to hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision in Surrey on Wednesday night.
Surrey RCMP say the accident, which involved an unmarked Transit police SUV and a sedan, occurred just before 11 p.m. on 128th Street and 93rd Avenue.
The force of the crash sent the sedan onto the sidewalk while the police SUV also ended up on sidewalk and came to rest in front of a townhouse.
Surrey RCMP say two people were sent to hospital.
The Transit police officer, whose name was not released, suffered serious injuries in the crash, while an occupant in the other vehicle sustained what RCMP described as “minor injuries.”
The area was closed to traffic for hours as police and emergency crews tended the scene.
The RCMP is investigating.
