Three drug labs in Richmond were busted during a one-day raid coordinated across the city on Wednesday.
Richmond RCMP, with the help of federal investigators, executed search warrants at three separate locations across the city on Wednesday. The raids were part of an eight-month-long targeted investigation into suspected synthetic drug production.
“These types of investigations pose a significant danger to our officers and to our community as a whole,” said Sgt. Gene Hsieh with Richmond’s organized crime unit.
“Some of the chemicals involved are highly unstable, and it will take some time for us to render these sites safe before continuing our investigation.”
Police are not releasing the locations of the three drug labs being investigated for investigational and safety reasons. Each site has been cordoned off and police are working to ensure all toxic materials are safely secured at the sites.
Investigators expect to share further updates in the the near future.
